Seesaw Account Changes: What They Mean for Teachers Using Literacy Stations Resources
If you’ve been using Seesaw in your classroom, you’ve probably noticed some major changes. These Seesaw account changes, specifically the removal of individual free and premium teacher plans, have affected thousands of teachers.
For many teachers, this change means that unless your school pays for Seesaw, you’ve lost access to the tools and features you previously relied on. If your school doesn’t provide Seesaw for Schools, you’re limited to the basic (free) features, which are significantly reduced due to the recent Seesaw account changes.
And for those who’ve used Literacy Stations resources with Seesaw companion activities, we want to explain what this shift means for you—and how we’re adapting.
What This Means for Literacy Stations Customers
We’ve heard from many of you, and we understand your frustration.
- Over the years, we’ve created hundreds of Seesaw activities that were included as part of your Literacy Stations resources.
- Many of those products featured direct links to Seesaw activities, and as the Seesaw account changes roll out, some of those links may no longer work for teachers who don’t have Seesaw for Schools access.
Here’s what we’re doing to support you:
- We are actively updating products to remove Seesaw references. With over 300 resources in our catalog, this process will take time. If you’ve purchased a product that included a Seesaw link, the printable and other digital components still work—but Seesaw may no longer be supported.
- Some activity links in older products may no longer work as intended. Unfortunately, Seesaw has disabled access to features that once allowed individual teachers to assign or edit activities. We’re working to identify and revise these where possible.
- We’re replacing Seesaw content with alternatives whenever available. Many products will be updated to include Google Slides or Boom Cards so you can continue using your resources in a way that fits your classroom.
The Good News
- You can still use the Seesaw activities already saved in your library.
If the activities were added to your personal library before the Seesaw account changes, they’ll remain accessible—even if you’re on a free Seesaw plan. - Students can still complete assignments you’ve already shared.
As long as those activities are in your library and your account is active, your students will be able to access and complete them. - Many Literacy Stations resources include Google Slides or Boom Cards.
These formats are fully supported, easy to assign, and work well with a variety of platforms. We’ll continue to offer them as digital companions to your print resources. - You can still assign our activities in other ways.
All our printable components can be downloaded as PDFs, so you can assign them through Google Classroom, Schoology, or print them for use during centers or independent work.
A Quick History of Literacy Stations + Seesaw
When Seesaw became a popular digital learning platform, we created resources to help teachers and students use it effectively. One of our first additions was the Seesaw Scavenger Hunt—a simple way for teachers to introduce students to the platform. It walked students through key tasks like entering text, adding photos and videos, and navigating the Seesaw dashboard.
As Seesaw use grew—especially during remote learning, we began including optional Seesaw activities in many of our resources. These supplemental activities were especially helpful during COVID, when teachers needed quick ways to monitor student work and provide feedback remotely. Seesaw gave them a real-time window into what students were working on, and our activities were designed to make that process easier.
It’s been a privilege to offer bright, interactive Seesaw activities that supported student learning and gave you a flexible way to assign work digitally. While the Seesaw account changes have impacted how we can deliver these tools moving forward, we’re proud of the role they’ve played in your classroom. Many of you used these tools to engage your students during remote learning or center time, and we’re so glad they’ve been helpful.
However, as Seesaw shifts to a school-purchased-only model and individual teacher access becomes more limited, we’re no longer able to offer Seesaw activities in our new resources. Our own access has also changed, which means we can’t create or update Seesaw content moving forward.
Moving Forward with Digital Options That Work for You
Thank you for using these tools while they were available—they’ve served a real purpose, and we’re proud of the role they’ve played in your classroom. While we’re phasing out Seesaw content, we’re continuing to offer digital options that give you flexibility—if they fit your classroom needs. Many of our resources now include Boom Cards and Google Slides companions, designed to support your instruction without adding more to your plate.
Boom Cards are self-checking, interactive, and engaging—perfect for independent centers, fast finishers, or even sub plans. Students get immediate feedback, and you can track their progress with minimal setup. They’re bright, easy to use, and keep students on task.
Google Slides activities are versatile and easy to assign in Google Classroom or present on your screen. You can use them whole-group, in small groups, or as independent work. They’re ideal for modeling, practicing new skills, or reviewing—without needing to print, prep, or manage physical materials.
Just like always, it’s your choice how you use these tools. Whether you prefer printable activities, digital resources, or a mix of both, we’ve designed our materials to work the way you teach.
Thank you for supporting Literacy Stations. We’re proud to offer resources that are flexible, classroom-tested, and designed to meet real teacher needs.
