Over the last few summers, I have done a “What Are Boom Cards” challenge for teachers who want to know how to use the Boom Learning platform from start to finish. One of the challenges was choosing the right membership level for your classroom. In order to do that, you’re probably wondering, “How much is a boom card membership?”
With any digital platform, there’s always change, at various times, Boom Learning Cards has changed its membership levels. Their last membership change and price increase was in October of 2021. This article is going to walk you through those level changes and how they affect your Boom Card Membership.
This is what the current Boom Card membership levels look like.
Let’s look over the types of memberships in the Boom Learning program and any major changes over the last few years.
Free Boom Card Membership
- 5 Students
- 5 Self-Made Decks (no custom sounds)
- Boom Cards Fast Play
- Detailed Reports For Your Students
The free membership looks about the same as before, so if you’ve been dabbling with Boom Cards using the free plan, it looks like you’re not going to be affected by these changes at all. However, if you were thinking about upgrading your membership, I’d do it asap before the prices are raised. They have offered locked in prices in the past. Be sure to watch your email for any specials they may offer.

Other Thoughts On Boom Card Memberships
Something else new: You can purchase spots for students now! Or maybe you could before, but it was in teeny tiny fine print that I couldn’t see. Either way, if you have a free account, and would like to increase the number of students, but not upgrade to the next boom card membership level, this option is available.
A quick word on price increases. Nobody likes it when this happens. Nobody. Especially when you’re talking about something you pay for out of your own pocket to use for your students. However, comparing the Boom Card prices to other similar education platforms, the previous prices were relatively low. These new prices are about average for the cost of using an educational platform. Keeping that in mind might help the sticker shock feel a little less painful.
